Cette composition doit son origine a un très curieux rythme que j’ai découvert lors d’un mini-concert de danses et percussions à Kinshasa. Ce rythme (dans l’impossible mesure de 4 ½ !), m’avait tellement fasciné que j’en ai tiré ce morceau, que j’ai commencé en pleine nuit à Kinshasa, d’où son premier titre ‘A Night in Kinshasa’. Par la suite le morceau a évolué avec des parties plus jazz dont les solos de sax et de piano Le rythme est originaire de la région Mongo (au centre du Congo) et j’y ai trouvé cohérent d’y adjoindre, comme cerise sur le gâteau, un mini-chœur de Pygmées, qui résident dans cette région
